On May 21, 2026, the Hungarian Robotics Association organised a panel discussion at HUNGEXPO Industry Days entitled „Robotadó vagy versenyképesség?".
The question posed
Where does industrial automation stand today, and what comes next with humanoid robots? Is there truly no reason for serious societal concern, because technological progress has not caused lasting labour market collapse so far? Or might this be the turning point where we need to rethink competitiveness, work, income and even redistribution?
Topics
The panel explored the question from multiple perspectives:
- Where does automation in industry actually stand today?
- What can be expected in the coming years, especially in humanoid robotics?
- Is a robot tax realistic and feasible at all?
- What economic, competition law and societal consequences might there be if productivity increases dramatically?
The question is not only technological – it also matters how we, as a country, as companies and as individuals, can preserve our competitiveness in a rapidly changing world.
